08-15-08 The Bedlam game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners is to be played at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater Oklahoma on November 29, 2008. The Sooner VS Cowboy game is an Oklahoma tradition dating back to 1900. The first OU-OSU game was held at Island Park in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The day consisted of cold winds and below freezing temperatures. In the middle of the game when the Oklahoma A&M Aggies, who later became the Oklahoma State Cowboys, were punting, the wind caught the ball and sent it soaring back behind the kicker. If the Oklahoma Aggies recovered the ball it would be a touchback and if Oklahoma recovered it, then it would be a touchdown. The ball ended up in a half-frozen creek. Since it was a crucial moment in the game and a touchdown was on the line, members from OU and OSU dove into the freezing water to fight for the ball. A member from Oklahoma managed to get the ball and down if for a touchdown, eventually defeating the Oklahoma Aggies 75-0. The 100th Bedlam anniversary occurred in 2005, in which the University of Oklahoma was victorious. Mike Gundy will return for his fourth year as head coach for Oklahoma State. He took over as head coach in 2005 and was immediately faced with many difficult decisions. Junior Zac Robinson will return for his second season as the cowboys starting quarterback. He became the starter after the second game in 2007 and led his team all the way to the Insight Bowl. Robinson ended up setting a school record for total offensive yards of 3,671. Bob Stoops, coach for the Oklahoma Sooners, has full confidence in sophomore Sam Bradford, quarterback for the Sooners. He currently holds the NCAA record for touchdown passes by a freshman. Bradford owes much of his success to his offensive line, who was voted preseason choice for college football’s best unit in 2007. Oklahoma will have five senior offensive linemen returning this season, giving Bradford plenty of coverage to work his magic. Junior Ryan Reynolds will be returning as starting linebacker for the Oklahoma Sooners. The past few seasons, Reynolds has had knew injuries, keeping him from participating; however, Stoops says that Reynolds is healthy and ready to go. The Sooners are currently number 4 in preseason ranking.
